Charlecote Park_a437ca69

Warwickshire, has been the home of the Lucy family since 1247, and the present house was built in 1558. The house was vigorously renovated in 1830s, and only the two-storey gatehouse remained untouched Elizabethan being now a museum. A remarkable piece of furniture is the colossal ‘Charlecote buffet’, carved by J.M.Willcox with figures of the resources of nature and bought in 1858 for £1,600. The park was improved by ‘Capability’ Brown in the 1700s. Pics here.
